UC IRVINE
Alpha Epsilon Delta is the only organization at UCI that offers
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
One of the most fundamental healthcare skills everyone should know is cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Our chapter of AED has several American Heart Association certified instructors who are capable of teaching this skill. The BLS for Health Care Providers course is designed to provide lifesaving techniques that are crucial in many emergencies. The class will cover: adult, child, and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), conscious and unconscious choking for victims of all ages, breathing barriers, bag valve masks, and 2 rescuer CPR, Automated External Defibrillator, and cardiopulmonary emergencies. In addition to being a great skill for everyone to know, this certification is required for many jobs, internships, and volunteering opportunities that involve patient interaction. Basic Life Support certification is also a common requirement for graduate level schools such as pharmacy school. We provide classes throughout each quarter and during the summer for a reasonable price. All classes are provided in the neighboring Irvine area.
Why a BLS Provider card?
BLS Provider card is required for all healthcare students, clinical volunteers, and new/renewing healthcare professionals. It is a two year certification that fulfills CPR requirements for most healthcare volunteering programs and positions like COPE Health Scholar, hospital employment at CHOC, Fountain Valley Hospital, UCI Medical Center, etc. Many professional health schools require all students be BLS certified.
